7742 Via Capri 21 Sep 91 La Jolla CA 92037 Joe Frederick ACTION RADIO Route 6, Box 232 Tyler TX 75704 Hi Joe, Enclosed are your drive case with the 'new' double sided drives installed, the new Floppy Disk Controller (FDC) card, and a couple copies of a DSDD system disk. I have checked them all out on my system, so I have great confidence that when the new FDC is installed that things will perform as they are supposed to! The FDC installs in the longer of the two edge connectors on the computer mother board and is held in place by the plastic brace above. Be sure that you install the FDC with the components facing the CRT. You will need to reinstall the cover to actuate the interlock switch and plug it in. You *did* unplug it before you opened it up, didn't you? If you have no use for the old FDC, please mail it to me in a padded envelope or similar. Perhaps I can figure out what is wrong with it. Your new DSDD operating system should be able to read the old SSDD disks OK. However, you will probably want to copy the contents onto new DSDD disks for the extra space available. Then you can re-Init the old ones. I have invested in this project $15 for the FDC, $15 for the two drives, the shipping costs for this box - unknown as I write, and a couple of brief phone calls - haven't got the bill yet. Not all that much all told. Let me know how it all works out, please. It certainly should give you a good working system. Happy computing, Don Maslin
