CTRL+9 turns the insert mode on or off. With it on, new text is in front of where the cursor is positioned. With it off, new text replaces text to the right of the cursor position. CTRL+0 repeats a subsequent command up to 65,535 times. CTRL(=) scrolls the screen up one line at a time. CTRL(-) scrolls the screen down one line at a time. CTRL+J,K,L Find allows you to automatically locate any piece of text in your document. Just enter CTRL+J and I ask what you're looking for. There are all sorts of options. For instance, you can automatically search for one piece of text and replace it with another. That's called Find & Replace. If you want to do it again, you can tell me to Repeat Find and Replace. I can't display these options, so I put a code in the file instead. RETURN causes the next line to print right on top of the line on which the cursor is positioned. BACKSP don't erase the letter on the left of the cursor but,  instead print over it. LF moves the paper up one line, but does not return the printer  to the left margin. A chooses an alternate pitch. B starts bolding until you touch "B" again. C stops all printing when the printer gets to this point in the file. D Double strike is like bolding, except it isn't as dark. K You can alternate page numbers between the left and right side of the paper, depending on whether they're appearing on an odd or even numbered page. "K" turns this feature on or off. N tells the printer to go back to normal pitch. O A required space (between words) tells me to treat the words as one and not to break them. S begins underlining until you press "S" again. T&V Subscripts and superscripts are used to type formulas.  These codes tell the printer to move the paper a 1/2 line up or down until you tell it to stop. See your reference manual for other special printer commands. BACKSP sends the cursor back to where it was before you  moved or copied a block of information.  RETURN sends the cursor back to where it was prior to the  previous command. 0-9 you can put ten place markers (0-9) in your file to  make it easier to find different sections. Touching a  number in this menu, tells your system to find the  number of the marker which you have entered. A&B "A" positions the cursor on the top display line.  "B" positions the cursor on the line above the bottom display line. "D" sends the cursor to the beginning of the file. E&F "E" moves the cursor to the beginning of the word on its left. "F" moves the cursor to the beginning of the word on its right. G&I "G" tells the cursor to go to the beginning of the block. "I" tells the cursor to go to the end of the block. J&K "J" sends the cursor to the far left of a line.  "K" sends it to the far right. Touch SPACE bar to return to your document file. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You may work with sections of a file (called blocks). A  block can be anything from a word to a line to a sentence to a paragraph. This menu lets you designate & work with blocks. A&B "A" tells me to begin the block wherever the cursor is  positioned in the file. "B" tells me to end the block  wherever the cursor is positioned in the file. C tells me to copy a block of your file somewhere else, but also leave it at its present location.  D tells me to erase the block in the file.  E relocates the block somewhere else (moves it). F automatically places a block of information in another file. you designate. G causes the block indicators to be displayed or not displayed. 0-9 Entering a number, from 0-9, marks the spot with the  number you type wherever the cursor is positioned. Using the GoTo Menu, you can search to this marker. Touch SPACE bar to return to your document file.------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This menu effects format changes which I can display on the screen. Menu #5 has options which I can't display so I put a code in the file instead. TAB has me indent all lines until you touch the return key. A centers the line where the cursor was positioned before  the menu was opened. B allows you to type beyond the margin settings.  C&D "C" lets you set a new right margin. "D" lets you set a new left margin.  E "E" sets a new tab.  Touch SPACE bar to see more or touch CTRL+U to stop-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F tells me to use a line of the file to set margins and more than one tab. First insert a line in the document with !'s and #'s where you  want regular and decimal tabs and any other character at the right and  left margins you want, leave the cursor on this line and execute this function. You can then delete this special line from your file.  G clears one tab or all tabs.  H turns on (or off) the feature of helping with hyphenation decisions. J Syllable hyphens are temporary. They appear in a word which did not fit on one line. "J" lets you turn this feature on or off. "K" turns this feature on or off. L allows you to select a line spacing setting from 1-9. M calculates where pages will end during printout. "M" turns the feature on or off.  N You can record special codes in your file which tell the printer what to do. Using this key tells me whether or not you want to see those codes on the screen.  O The ruler can either stay displayed on your screen  (whenever you're working on a file) or it can be turned off using this key. P When a word doesn't fit on a line, it's automatically  moved to the next line. "P" turns this feature on or off. Touch SPACE bar to return to your document file. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This menu works on whole documents (including saving, deleting, printing, renaming, etc.). ESC tells me not to save. A tells me to look at the disk which is on the other disk drive. B erases an entire file. C gives you an option of displaying one line of the directory even while working on a file. D prints the file name you enter after pressing this key. E adds whatever is in another file to the file which you are editing. F allows you to rename any file on the disk.  G saves the file and then displays the file directory. H saves the file and then re-displays it.  I saves the file, resets format settings back to what they were when I was turned on and then displays the directory.  Note: The re-display ("H") is great benefit for those who are concerned with losing material (on the disk) in the event of a power failure.
