************ MORROW PARTS: New old stock **************** The Union Bank of Los Angles auctioned off the assets of the MORROW DESIGNS,INC. Tuesday June 24, 1986 at 11:00 am. Many of the parts and assemblies were purchased by Brian Whittaker of SILICON VALLEY SURPLUS. A few years later most of these were added to Ron Jacobs' collection of repair parts for JACOBS COMPUTER SERVICES where as a former MORROW engineeer he developed great skill in the repair of MORROWs. Around the end of 1985 Rlee Peters acquired all that remained of Ron Jacobs' collection. Now Rlee Peters is retired and enjoys his privacy. He does like to tinker with computers and help others out where he can. In fact he is very generous with his time and computer parts. He worked for the military and the government for many years and his specialty area is computer security. He does not have an E-mail address and has no desire to correspond by modem. He uses only the mail and the telephone for correspondence. He provided me with a listing of his inventory from Ron Jacobs which is available as a downloadable file called RLEE.LBR on user area B0:. - He asked me to act on his behalf to field inquiries. So ... I will install Rlee as a user on this MOR BBS for the purpose of taking inquiries and periodically (every week or two) I will print out all his messages and mail them to him for action. If you leave your mailing address with your message he can correspond or mail parts to you directly if he wishes. He doesn't really know what value to put on these parts so you will have to make him an offer. - - For example, you want a MORROW RAM DISK and documentation. This board cost $400 for the 128 K version plus $80 for each additional 256 K of memory up to 1 MB in 1985. You may think it would be worth $30 today since your machine was purchased at garage sale for $30. You send in your request. He may think it is worth more like $40 plus shipping. You agree and the exchange is made. Now you may get a board which is defective. You may find that not all the cables and mounting hardware come with the board. You may fail to make all the correct connections and ruin your mother board. You can consider it to be money spent for entertainment. We are lucky that he even is willing to help us to get parts. He doesn't need the money. He does need to be thanked and encouraged to continue to help those who need it. If you can't take the risk, then DON'T!
