PLAYBACK.BAT Restore a Bondwell 14 disk from a disk image file.
RECORD .BAT Takes a Bondwell 14 disk and makes a disk image file.

The Bondwell 14 disks are supplied in the form of disk image files (.IMG).
To make Bondwell disks from an image file, requires the freely available
shareware program CopyQM 3.24 by SYDEX and an IBM-PC fitted with a 360K or
1.2M drive. CopyQM also allows the reverse process - making and image file
from a Bondwell disk.

Two MS-DOS batch files are supplied here that make the conversion process
easy. The batch files assume that your 5 inch drive is configured as
drive B - if this is not the case on your machine, you will need to modify
the batch files accordingly.

PLAYBACK.BAT restores a Bondwell 14 disk from a disk image file.

RECORD.BAT is used to backup any Bondwell 14 disk to an image file. Note
that a sector interleave of 3 has been used - while the actual figure is
not critical it is likely to affect how fast a restored disk will boot and
run.

You should use only 360K double-density double-sided disks (DSDD) and a 5
inch 40 track drive when restoring Bondwell 14 disks. High-density floppy
disks CANNOT be used.

NOTE: If you do not have a 360K 40 track drive it MAY be possible to
restore Bondwell disks using an IBM-PC 80 track high-density 1.2M drive
- but be warned, this is not always successful. Should you wish to try it,
ensure that the floppy disk to be used has either, NEVER been formatted,
or, has been wiped with a bulk disk eraser (a strong magnet wiped several
times over the disk surface has been known to work also). Again, you MUST
use 360K floppy disks - NOT 1.2M high density disks.

Place the restored disk into your Bondwell and boot it (the booting process
may be quite slow so be patient). Once the Bondwell has booted without any
error messages, it is highly recommended that you immediately make a set of
master disks using the Bondwell 14. To do this, run the Bondwell FORMAT.COM
utility and create several new freshly formatted disks. Then run the
BACKUP.COM utility and backup the restored disks. Not only will these new
"master disks" be fully compatible with the Bondwell drives, it will ensure
the disks have the correct sector interleave and will run at optimum speed.
